Oklahoma "First Families"

The Muskogee County Genealogical Society honors the memory of our early Muskogee County pioneers with a special certificate issued to their descendants. The purpose of this program is to:
  • recognize those with Muskogee County roots, 
  • encourage people to undertake genealogical and historical research,
  • provide resources for other researchers.

Descendants of the early residents of what is today Muskogee County may qualify for one of the following certificates: 
 
  • Territorial - Ancestors proven to have resided in Muskogee County on or before statehood November 16, 1907.
  • Early Family - Ancestors proven to have resided in Muskogee County anytime between and including November 17, 1907, and December 31, 1920.

Forms to Complete

Please download and print the application packet and carefully read and follow the instructions. Then complete both of these items in the packet.

  1. The top portion of the Release Form (be sure to sign it)
  2. The First Families History Form(s)

Mail your completed forms (using sufficient postage), along with COPIES of the required documentation. Do NOT send any original documents to:
